Arepa Rumbera

This arepa was named after the Venezuelan partygoers who are used to go to an arepera after leaving nightclubs early in the morning. It’s called rumbera as the people who go on “rumbas.”

There are other stories where its name originates from the fact that after Christmas parties, which is where the pernil is usually prepared, what was left over was used for the arepas on the days that follow the parties. Now, whatever the origin is, it does not take away or add to this delicious recipe.

Ingredients for the Arepa rumbera recipe:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups shredded or sliced pork legs
  • 2 cups yellow Gouda cheese

Preparation of the Arepa rumbera recipe:

  1. Prepare the dough for the arepas and cook them.
  2. Open the arepas lengthwise and spread butter inside.
  3. Fill with hot pork leg and grated yellow cheese.

That’s it! You are ready to bite!
